First firework festival

So, we went to our first fireworks festival organized by the school, and it was quite something. The place was lined with food stands selling all kinds of treats you'd usually see in anime - turns out, they really do look like that in real life. As usual, we got there on our bikes - our go-to mode of transport. It wasn't too far. Finding each other in the crowd was a bit tricky.

Once we all regrouped, we checked out the stalls. There was everything - yakisoba, shaved ice, meat skewers, candied strawberries, pineapple on a stick (yeah, that was a bit weird), beer, corn, slushies, and even some games. We're still getting the hang of Japanese stuff, but we managed okay.

After wandering around and filming for the contest for about three hours, it finally got dark. We met up with the rest of the school at the spot to watch the fireworks. People brought stuff to sit on, which seemed to be the norm for the hour-long show. As we waited, it got colder, and we weren't quite prepared for that, but we toughed it out.

Next to us, a group of older students were having a blast. The fireworks were amazing, but what happened afterward wasn't so great. I had my bike, but Andy and Jana had left theirs at the train station. We all headed that way, and it seemed like everyone else had the same idea. The walk took about an hour. Once we got there, we took some pictures with the other students before heading home. We were faster, but we understood it was busier for the others. We're definitely going back next year.

最初の花火大会に学校が企画したもので、かなり感動的でした。場所にはアニメでしか見たことがないような伝統的なおやつや食べ物がたくさん並んでいて、本物でもアニメのように見えるんだなと驚きました。いつも通り、私たちは自転車で到着し、これが私たちの得意な移動手段です。あまり遠くはなかったですが、人混みの中でお互いを見つけるのは少し大変でした。

グループ全員が再会したら、屋台の数々を見て回りました。焼きそばやかき氷、串焼き、砂糖漬けのイチゴ、変わったものではパインアップルの串など、本当にいろいろありました。日本のものにまだ慣れていなかったけれど、最終的にはうまくやり遂げました。

約3時間ほど歩き回り、コンテストのためにビデオを撮影した後、やっと暗くなりました。花火を見るための指定された場所で学校の残りの生徒たちと合流しました。人々は座るものを持ってくるのが普通だということがわかり、花火が始まるまでの待ち時間に寒くなってしまいましたが、何とかしのぎました。

隣にいた上級生らしきグループは楽しい時間を過ごしていました。花火は本当に素晴らしかったですが、その後はあまり良くありませんでした。私は自転車を持っていましたが、アンディとヤナは駅に自転車を置いてきていました。みんなで駅に向かったところ、ほとんどの人が同じ方向に向かっていました。歩いて約1時間かかりました。到着したら、他の生徒たちと写真を撮り、家に帰りました。私たちは早かったですが、みんながたくさんいたので彼らにとっては大変だったことを理解しています。来年も絶対に戻ってくる予定です。その日のビデオを楽しんでください！
